The meme I made is based on an internet meme that gained popularity around 2020-2021 in which we see two astronauts who are presumed to be standing on the moon. One of the astronauts is looking back at the earth while the other is pointing a gun at him. The basic concept behind this meme is that the astronaut looking at earth is realizing something was a lie back on earth and the other astronaut has to take him out for learning to much.
My adaptation of this meme shows the earths landmass as an enlarged state of Ohio which conveniently works for showing the earth as all being connected through the means of the internet, one of the key points the book Superconnected makes. My meme means to show how the world can feel a lot more connected when you're able to see events anywhere in the world as they happen or only a couple hours after they happen. I chose this meme template mainly because I like it but also because I never hear any opposition to the modernization of the world through phones and perhaps the astronaut with the gun wants to stop him from saying the interconnectedness of the world is bad.
This meme is related to the section in chapter 2 of our textbook about wireless and mobile communication. Our author speaks on how the development of wireless technology has become a key part of modern society and how important it was in the development of this technology that distance didn’t interfere with the seamless connection it provided. To me is what makes everything so connected, the way information is seamlessly streamed to us almost making it feel as if we are there. While speaking of development we spoke in class about how different waves of people are willing to try the new versions of technology and advancement. I’m sure when it was first announced loads of people were hesitant to have a phone in their car as they were also expensive comoditys’s to have as well. I directly added the date 1946 to my meme as a way to engage with the reading I chose. that can be seen in our textbook the author states:
“Mobile phone technology first appeared in the form of car phones, which made their debut appearance in 1946.” (Chayko, 2020, pp. 33)
I thought this would be a good way to highlight the section of our book that I chose and connect to the other astronauts comment about it all being connected by mobile technology.

I love how you've adapted meme to convey this message. It's fascinating to think about how far mobile communication technology has come since its inception in 1946 with the debut of car phones. In fact, looking back to the early days of mobile technology, it's amazing to see how far we've come and how seamlessly integrated these devices are into our daily lives. I think your meme is an example of human innovation and our constant desire to push the boundaries of technology. Good job!
